Baggage left by passengers at check-in is transported by conveyor belt over several kilometres. Thousands of bags arrive at their respective stations (dedicated sectors per flight) and are then handled by the department's employees. Their role is to prepare the material required to process the baggage and to apply a pre-established loading plan.
Specific activities related to a Baggage Handler :
- Preparation of the material necessary for the assistance (tanks and dollies)
- Delivery of special luggage on a dedicated conveyor belt
- Baggage handling and sorting (priority, transit, and point-to-point)
- Baggage loading and unloading at the departure and/or arrival terminal
- Use of necessary machinery and equipment
- Respect and ensure compliance with the safety, health and security regulations issued by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation, the airport, the authorities, the client companies and dnata's internal guidelines.
